Description:
The Council on Foundations, a membership association of foundations and giving programs, seeks individual to provide executive leadership, vision and oversight for communications outreach efforts to policymakers, the media, other nonprofit organizations and the public, and supporting the organization’s membership recruitment and retention program. Will participate as a member of the senior management team with a full role in overall planning activities that advance the Council’s vision and mission. Will have a solid understanding of the Council’s issues – from a policy and member perspective and work closely with government relations and advocacy. Will develop and implement communications strategy and public relations plans that deliver key messages to promote the organization and its brands, products and services. Manage website as communication and marketing tool to advance online communications initiatives and strategies. Provide oversight and strategic direction to the communications team consisting of marketing, media relations, and web communications. Establish strong relationships with key members of the media.
Additional Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; M.A. in communications, journalism, marketing, social sciences or business administration a plus. Experience in associations or nonprofit organizations a plus. Ten years experience with strategic planning, government relations, and media relations. Five years management and supervisory experience. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
