Description:
Communication and Design Specialist

Clean Wisconsin, the state’s largest environmental advocacy organization, seeks a creative, energetic individual to join our team as a communication and design specialist. The individual chosen for this position will be responsible for producing and editing our quarterly newsletter, The Defender; designing and producing collateral materials such as fact sheets, reports, brochures, fliers, posters and white papers; as well as managing Clean Wisconsin’s photo library. This individual will also partner with the public relation and media specialist to manage and maintain Clean Wisconsin’s Web site as well as strategically respond to the organizational needs regarding local news, electronic and print media outlets.

Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to produce compelling, visually appealing creative documents, have excellent writing, editing and project management skills, have a familiarity with basic design concepts and printing techniques as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, Publisher and Contributor, or other design software.

Clean Wisconsin is seeking a half-time Communications and Design Specialist for our downtown Madison office.

Job Description:

This position reports to the Public Relations and Media Specialist in order to accomplish all aspects of Clean Wisconsin communications. The Communications and Design Specialist is responsible for promoting Clean Wisconsin and its program campaigns by:

• Producing and editing The Defender quarterly newsletter
• Managing the production of collateral materials such as:
o Clean Wisconsin’s annual report
o Special program reports
o Fact sheets
o Brochures
o Fliers/Posters
o Direct mail
o Graphics
o Displays
• Partnering with public relations and media specialist to manage Clean Wisconsin’s Web site
• Partnering with and assisting the public relations and media specialist in creating budgets, developing communications plans, and reporting on grant work accomplished.
• Partnering with and assisting the public relations and media specialist in responding to the organizational needs pertaining to the local news, electronic media and print media.
• Other duties include writing board and staff biographies and maintaining the photo, graphics and publication libraries

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must demonstrate:
• An ability to produce compelling creative documents
• Effective writing, editing and project management skills
• Familiarity with basic design concepts and printing techniques
• Ability to work independently, think logically and manage time effectively in a fast paced work environment
• Proficiency in MS Office, Publisher and Contributor, or other Web design software
• Ability to remain consistent in message usage
• Ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple projects autonomously
• An interest/familiarity with environmental issues
