Job Description

The Glover Park Group (GPG), a leading public affairs consulting firm, is seeking an insightful, politically-minded senior communications professional to lead the firm‚s health care communications practice. This position is based in our Washington, D.C. headquarters.

GPG serves a broad range of health care clients, including corporations, trade associations, and leading NGOs across the full spectrum of health care policy, regulatory, legislative, crisis and political issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES
# Manage and continuously develop GPG's health care communications team
# Serve as primary lead on GPG‚s existing portfolio of complex and demanding health care accounts
# Lead health care communications and health care policy new business efforts
# Maintain expert knowledge of evolving health care policy, medical and political issues
# Work with other departments to deliver integrated services (from government relations and advertising to content development and public opinion research) for multidiscipline accounts
# Design and manage successful public affairs programs and budgets for flagship accounts, and oversee such work for range of small to medium accounts
# Manage media strategy by developing proactive media plans and responding effectively in reactive situations
# Conceive, author, and deliver strategic insights to C-level executives or their equivalent, and
# Develop best practices, reporting systems and other developing business needs

ATTRIBUTES

The ideal candidate will have a combination of the following:
# Expertise in health care policy, medicine and national-level politics, as well as expertise in all aspects of strategic communications, message development, message delivery and press work
# A BA/BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
# A demonstrated capacity for leadership, communication and teamwork
# Significant management experience, including responsibility for personnel, major projects, budgets and multiple clients
# Experience with developing and managing integrated public affairs campaigns drawing from multiple disciplines including media relations, government relations, advertising and public opinion research
# Proven ability to source and/or successfully lead efforts to obtain new business, including landing the largest and most complex opportunities
# Established media contacts in the health care space
