Manager, Communications

Opportunity Snapshot:

Visible position reporting to Senior Manager, Communications. This is a great opportunity to play a key role and use your strategic, writing and media relations skills to support Global Communications' efforts to protect Edwards' reputation, grow its leadership and educate key stakeholders.



* Plan and execute external communications activities that will positively position the company, business units and products, as well as neutralize and/or mitigate risks.



* Work closely with Transcatheter Heart Valve, Heart Valve Therapy, Critical Care, Cardiac Surgery Systems and Vascular business units, as well as other internal business partners, to generate awareness and understanding for their products and initiatives.



Key Responsibilities:

* Fact-find and relationship-build with product managers within business units and other internal sources to identify opportunities and relevant information

* Conduct other research that may complement communications plans and strategies

* Develop strategic communications plans to best position business units, products, initiatives and the company

* Develop messages, press releases, presentations, speeches/talking points, Web site copy

* Conduct research on, and track, media targets

* Pitch and develop strong relationships with key media

* Generate strategic media coverage with traditional and online media - includes trade/clinical, business and consumer outlets

* Work with outside agency to coordinate written and media relations activities

* Oversee agency measurement activities

* Produce daily media summaries and voicemails

* Understand Edwards' business, its products, trends and competitors

* Assist with other external efforts

Requirements:

Our Requirements:

Experience working with medical technology, healthcare or biotech businesses/products is extremely valuable.

A Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field, and minimum of five (5) years of related public relations agency or corporate communications experience with a successful track record in written materials, media relations and reputation building is required.



Keen understanding of media relations with emphasis on story/message development and media placement.



Demonstrated excellence in written communications, including press materials, articles, reports and memos.

Ability to demonstrate accountability for results and sound business judgment/decision-making.

* Proactive and energetic personality, with a hunger for achieving great media results

* Ability to win the confidence of internal business partners and managers

* Experience collaborating with multiple corporate departments to develop story ideas and media pitching strategy

* Strong team player

* Experience in multi-tasking and meeting deadlines effectively

* Attention to detail, especially proofreading
