Job Description

The Wildlife Conservation Society is hiring a Manager of Communications.

This staff person would be responsible for all communications functions required in the Washington, DC office of the Wildlife Conservation Society, including earned media; reports; fact sheets; writing statements, presentations, and letters; and serving as the communications coordinator out of Washington, DC with NY-based Online and Communications team. WCS is looking for a communications professional, with a strong background in earned media or public relations, who is aware of how communications advance policy priorities on Capitol Hill, in the Administration, and with the federal governmental agencies. The ideal candidate will be someone who has worked in one of these areas, especially in a press secretary position and understands earned media thoroughly and has a good understanding of strategic placement of WCS messages in the national, Washington, DC and trade media. Required: Bachelor’s Degree, at a minimum, in communications, journalism, or an applicable liberal arts field; 2 to 5 years doing earned media in Washington, DC.
