Basic Function:

Responsible for media relations and all forms of external communication for the Chapter. Primarily responsible for implementing marketing/pr/grassroots campaigns for chapter campaigns.



Work Direction:

Works under the supervision, direction and training of the Deputy Executive Director to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.



Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages all PR and marketing efforts related to LLS special events, sponsor receptions and patient services programs. Including: drafting of press releases, media advisories, talking points, tip sheets and ad creative.



Develops, manages and implements chapter wide communication plan (strategic and operational) that includes direct marketing, advertising, public relations, digital advertising, social media and grass roots marketing/promotions to meet the chapter's communication goals.



Oversees and manages existing relationships with NYC based PSA directors. Work with PSA Directors/Promotions Directors to form media sponsorship packages to promote LLS campaigns.



Manages relationships with celebrity national spokespeople and ambassadors for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.



Maintains and updates Light The Night Website, online chapter events calendar, patient services information and NYC Chapter pages.



Assists Washington, DC and Albany based Office of Public Policy staff with legislative media relations. Including: planning of state and federal Mission Day press conferences, grass roots advocacy efforts, editorial board meetings and placing local human interest stories to urge legislators to pass policy initiatives.



Maintains a working knowledge of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society mission and programs of the Society.



Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:





At least 2-3 years of working experience.



PR experience including pitching and working with media.



Strong oral and written communication skills.



Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor.

Strong interpersonal skills and judgment.


Excellent word processing and database management skills.


Minimum preferred education – Bachelor’s Degree.
